“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts upon your ways.” (Book of Haggai 1:7)
Sometimes we wonder why our efforts produce so little.
We work hard, yet peace is missing.
We earn money, yet nothing seems to last.
We keep moving forward, yet without real satisfaction.
In the Book of Haggai, God shows His people that the problem was not only their circumstances, but also their conduct and priorities.
God said to them:
“Set your hearts upon your ways.”
In other words: examine your life.
Your choices, your habits, and your relationship with God all have an impact on the way you live.
Many people want a different life without changing direction.
But real change is impossible without self-examination.
Before blaming others or your circumstances, take a moment to honestly examine your ways.
• Examine the way you speak.
• Examine your relationships and influences.
• Examine your hidden choices.
• Examine your relationship with God.
• Examine what you are truly pursuing in life.
For our ways influence our destiny.
A life far from God will always create a void that nothing else can fill.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to examine my life sincerely and return to Your ways. Amen.
