Giving thanks to God is spontaneous and easy when we have just received a wonderful blessing, a miracle, something we needed so much, or just when God answers our prayer.
But there are times when we do not want to give thanks to God: It is when we feel very discouraged, when everything goes wrong for us and we feel as if our life was in disorder, when we have the impression that God does not hear our prayers, etc.
And yet, the Word of God tells us:
« Give thanks always for all things unto God… » (Ephesians 5:20)
In the midst of the ordeal we are going through, we must praise God for His righteousness, despite all the mistakes we have made. We thank him for being our prince of peace and that his peace will rise in us and will remain for us the storm of our life.
Indeed, God sees and appreciates the moments when, in spite of the feeling of discouragement, we give him thanks.
Our thanksgiving during these times is more dear to our eyes than our thanksgiving during the times when we feel happy because we have just been blessed.
PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the courage to give thanks during the moments when we have the impression that you have forgotten us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
Amen.
