THE YEARS THE LOCUSTS HAVE EATEN

Because of their disobedience and wickedness towards God, the Jews of the kingdom of Judah experienced a massive plague of insects and locusts that devoured crops and provisions, causing a famine in the land. This symbolized God’s punishment for the disobedience of his people.

But, after they repented, God gave them the following promise:
« I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten–the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm–my great army that I sent among you. »(Joel 2:25)

This promise shows that God can make up for lost time, even after years of sin and estrangement from God.
If then we regret our past and we repent, God can, because of his mercy, can restore to us all that we have lost during the years of our sins and our estrangement from Him.
These years we compare to the years the locusts have eaten.
So let’s hope that if we repent, and let go of what separates us from God, He too will have mercy on us, forgive us, and restore to us all that we have lost because of our sins.

PRAYER:
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to always trust in your mercy and grace.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
