Through his prophet Amos, God calls his people who turn away from Him.
He tells them:
« Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times, for the times are evil.
Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.
Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph. »
(Amos 5:13-15)
Do we consider these times to be evil?
If so, let’s follow the counsel of the prophet. God keeps telling us regularly in his Word, to seek good and not evil:
« See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. »
(Deuteronomy 30:15)
So let us not harden our hearts, let us hate and forsake all that is not pleasing to God.
PRAYER :
Our Father who art in heaven, grant us to hate evil and to cleave to good.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.
