One of Jesus’ best known statements is found in Matthew 7.12. It is so famous that many have given it a name. It’s called the « Golden Rule. »
Let’s see what it consists of.

« Whatever you want men to do to you, do it also for them; for it is the Law and the Prophets. »(Matthew 7:12)

The negative form of this sentence was already well known. It could be formulated as follows: « Whatever you don’t want to be done to you, don’t do it to others either. »

There is, however, a significant difference between the Golden Rule and its negative form.
Jesus’ teaching is expressed positively by asking us to « do something ».
The negative form recommends that « we refrain from doing something » and therefore has a much narrower scope.

The man of the world, if he wishes to adopt a certain morality, will probably agree to follow the idea conveyed by the negative form.
The moral sense of natural man will be satisfied with such a precept. He will not seek to go beyond what should not be done.
But a much wider horizon awaits the Christian.
It is no longer enough to abstain from evil. Jesus asks us to do all the good possible. This is much more demanding. The Christian life inspires us to go out to meet people and take the initiative to do good.

So therefore, this golden rule teaches us that we should rather wish and do to others all the good that we would like them to do us and their avoid to others all the harm that we would not want them make us.

PRAYER:
Lord our God, give us the wisdom and the courage to always do to others everything we want them to do to us and avoid them everything we would not want them to do to us.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray.

L’une des déclarations les plus connues de Jésus se trouve dans Matthieu 7:12. Elle est si célèbre que beaucoup lui ont donné un nom. C’est ce qu’on appelle la « Règle d’or ».
Voyons en quoi cela consiste.

« Tout ce que vous voulez que les hommes fassent pour vous, faites-le de même pour eux, car c’est la loi et les prophètes. »(Matthieu 7:12)

La forme négative de cette phrase était déjà bien connue. Elle pourrait être formulée ainsi: « Ce que vous ne voulez pas que l’on vous fasse, ne le faites pas aux autres non plus. »

Il existe cependant une différence significative entre la Règle d’Or et sa forme négative.
L’enseignement de Jésus s’exprime positivement en nous demandant de faire quelque chose.
La forme négative recommande de s’abstenir de faire quelque chose et a donc une portée beaucoup plus étroite.

L’homme du monde, s’il souhaite adopter une certaine moralité, acceptera probablement de suivre l’idée véhiculée par la forme négative.
Le sens moral de l’homme naturel se contentera d’un tel précepte. Il ne cherchera pas à aller au-delà de ce qui ne devrait pas être fait.
Mais un horizon beaucoup plus large attend le chrétien.
Il ne suffit plus de s’abstenir du mal. Jésus nous demande de faire tout le bien possible. C’est beaucoup plus exigeant.
La vie chrétienne nous incite à aller à la rencontre des gens et à prendre l’initiative de faire le bien.

Ainsi donc, cette règle d’or nous enseigne qu’il faut plutôt souhaiter et faire aux autres tout le bien que nous voudrions qu’ils nous fassent et leur éviter aux tout le mal que nous ne voudrions pas qu’ils nous fassent.

PRIÈRE:
Éternel notre Dieu, donnez-nous la sagesse et le courage de toujours faire aux autres tout ce que nous voulons qu’ils nous fassent et leur éviter tout ce que nous ne voudrions pas qu’ils nous fassent.
C’est dans le nom précieux de votre fils Jésus-Christ que nous prions, Amen.

Rimwe mu magambo azwi cyane ya Yesu turisanga muri Matayo 7:12.
Rirazwi cyane kuburyo benshi barihaye izina. Yitwa « Itegeko rya Zahabu. »
Reka turebe uko rimeze.

« Ibyo mushaka ko abantu babagirira byose mube ari ko mubagirira namwe, kuko ayo ari yo mategeko n’ibyahanuwe. »(Matayo 7:12)

Hari ukundi kuntu iyi nteruro yari isanzwe izwi. Iri jambo ryari risanzwe rivugwa mu buryo bukurikira: « Ibyo mudashaka ko babagirira, ntimukabigirire abandi. »

Hariho, ariko, itandukaniro rikomeye hagati y’Itegeko rya Zahabu n’ubwo buryo bundi.
Inyigisho za Yesu zidusaba « gukora ikintu ».
Iyi nteruro yindi nayo ikadusaba « kwirinda gukora ikintu ».
Ariko inzira nini cyane itegereje umukristo, « ntabwo ari ukwirinda gukora ikibi gusa », ahubwo, « n’ugukora ibyiza byose bishoboka » nk’uko Yesu abidusaba.
Ubuzima bwa gikristo budutera imbaraga zo kujya guhura n’abandi bantu no gufata iyambere mu gukora ibyiza.

Rero, iri tegeko rya zahabu ritwigisha ko dukwiye ahubwo kwifuriza no gukorera abandi ibyiza byose twifuza ko badukorera kandi tukarinda abandi ibibi byose tutifuza ko batugira.
