FALSE HOPE KILLS

One cold night, a rich man met a poor old man outside and asked him:
« Don’t you feel the cold outside without a coat? »
« I don’t have a coat and I’m used to it, » replied the old man.
The rich man immediately said to him:
« Wait for me here. I’m going home to get you a coat. »
The poor man was so happy and says he will wait for him.

When billionaire arrived home, he was so busy that he forgot about the poor man.
The next day, when the rich man remembered the poor old man, he returned to the place where he had left him and found him dead in the cold.
The poor old man had left a letter saying: « I never had a coat to cover myself and I have always been able to stand the cold, but as soon as you promised to give me a coat, I I believed, the hope at your promise immediately killed my strength to bear the cold. »

The Bible advises us to rely on God rather than on men:
« It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. »(Psalms 118:9)
However, let’s avoid making promises that we cannot keep, because a false hope kills.
« It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. »(Ecclesiastes 5:5)

PRAYER:
Lord our God, help us to always keep our promises.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
