LET’S KEEP OUR HOPES

Who among the children of Israel in captivity would have thought they would see Jerusalem again? No one.
All hopes were cut off. They cried every time they remembered Zion.

« By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the poplars we hung our harps, for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, « Sing us one of the songs of Zion! » How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land? »(Psalms 137:1-4)

We too have good memories of good things we experienced at home or elsewhere, and other memories of the goods we owned.
When we remember all those, we are struck by sadness in our hearts and we even cry because we think we will never see them again.
But we are wrong like those children of Israel who despaired and wept as if they would never see Jerusalem again.
Being insulted, humiliated and mocked as the children of Israel were, should not make us despair, but rather we must maintain hope that God’s plans are good for us, that we will recover what Satan has taken from us and that we will experience again good times like the ones we experienced.
After all, « there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail »(Job 14:7)
Let’s keep our hopes up!

PRAYER:
Lord our God, grant us to always keep our hopes.
It is in the precious name of your son Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
